Herbalist Amanda Crawford teaches you how to test yourself for food allergies at home. Her method is simple: If there is a food you suspect you may be allergic to, pull it from your diet for four days. First thing in the morning of the fifth day, while you still have an empty stomach, take your pulse. Then, just eat a big serving of that food, and after five minutes take your pulse again. A difference of five to seven beats (slower or faster) may be a sign that you have a food sensitivity or allergy. It’s less exact than a blood test, but it’s a great place to start.
