Herbalist Amanda Crawford recommends corn silk tea to fight chronic UTI’s. The fine silky threads you find when you peel an ear of corn are rich in saponins, which act almost like a detergent on the body. They’re rich in allantoids to help heal tiny scratches that UTI’s sometimes leave on the urethral wall, as well as vitamin K and vitamin C to help heel bleeding. Also, corn silk’s chlorophyll and cryptoxanthin are both anti-inflammatory. Take it in a tea or as an infusion for both acute flare-ups and chronic cystitis.
