The first step to healthy skin is a healthy steam facial. You can use plain water, or follow herbalist Amanda Crawford’s lead and add in an herb you like (She prefers calendula, for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties) The next step? Gently exfoliate with a simple mix of white sugar and olive oil. Prepare it with a chopstick to avoid transferring bacteria from your hand, and add in an antibacterial herb of your preference (Dr. Crawford uses chamomile, which has the extra benefit of adding a pleasant, relaxing fragrance). Total cost for a week’s supply? Less than a dollar.
